This christmas we decided to give Iris a vintage bicycle since she expressed an interest in ours and said she would like to have one. The bike is a 1950's JC Higgins purchased on ebay from a guy in Huntington beach. We decided to give it a make over other than just give it to her like it was when we got it. The frame needed a crack repair which was done in our garage and then a custom paint job which bubbled off the first time it was clear coated! so it had to be redone. The seat was replaced with a new one and it got new handlebars and a new old stock front light. We also picked up a new rear carrier from ebay. We decided to go with new chrome fenders as it was getting close to christmas and there was not enough time to strip and paint the originals. After a little tinkering with the horn the bike was ready just in time for christmas. It came out pretty nice and rode like a new bike! Iris seemed very pleased with it which made all the work worth the effort. We just need to take our bikes out for some rides now and turn some heads!!
