Bolsa Chica Conservancy

We had planned to go to the Japanese Gardens at CSULB a few week-ends ago - but they were closed for renovations and their website does a crumby job of showing it. We decided since we were packed up and out and about we would head to the The Bolsa Chica Conservancy. This is a non-profit, non-political organization established to ensure the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach, CA. Bolsa Chica, along with the rest of Huntington Beach, CA, has some of the nation's best birding!
Johnnie loved picking up handfulls of rocks and showing them to everyone. He was over joyed with all the rocks it was better than toys!
Mommy tried to get a picture with Johnnie - but rocks were the priority.
It was really cool to be so close and watch the birds fish.
The view
Nearly half of the birds found in the U.S. have been seen in Huntington Beach. A fabulous 321 out of Orange County's 420 bird species were sighted here in the past decade. We saw Pelicans, Egrets and Mallards. It was nice to take a leisurely stroll with the M's. All the kids had a great time running and exploring. Towards the end of our walk it started to get over cast and even a little chilly. When we hit the car on the way home it just started to rain -timing couldn't have been more perfect for an outing today. A great place for a visit.
Parker led the pack in looking through the bridge, Johnnie was soon to follow. I think the mystery of looking through the planks was just as great as what they actually could see.
Peeking through the bridge.
Posing....not the most flattering family picture - lol!

Can you find the wildlife in this picture? A hint it is near the middle.
Enjoying a fun circle of laughter -led by Parker.

On our way out we say this little fellow - it wasn't us that feed him - we actually followed the rules while we were visiting.
