At school we are in the first electrical part of our textbook and this past week everyone got to build their own mock up air conditioner/furnace out of spare switches, compressors, capacitors, relays, fans and other various parts along with whatever wire we could scavenge from around the class. We had to follow a wire diagram to hook it all together and make it work. After everyone did it in small groups we got to do it by ourselves. Mine worked the first time!, amazingly enough. I used a light bulb and socket for my furnace element, but that was ok, it represented a heating element just fine. It looks like a mess and it was, but it got me an A grade for shop participation for the week.

Seems complicated.
